Google Cloud & G Suite: Why the name change and how does it affect me?

Yesterday, as many of you know and may have heard, Google released their same great tools under a more fitting name – both for what we know as Google Apps as well as the entire Enterprise suite.

“G Suite by Google Cloud” includes Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Hangouts, and the rest of what we use and love. The Google Cloud Official Blog highlights some of the announced enhancements to the product.

Cloudbakers’ top 3 favorites are:

  1. Meetings for Teams increases participants in Hangouts to 50 and adds a conference line
  2. Team Drive organizes file ownership to a ‘Team’ versus an individual
  3. Smarter scheduling with resources, calendar overlays and find a time available on mobile devices

Google’s strategic decision to realign Apps, Chrome, Android, and Cloud Platform as one organization was lead by Diane Greene. Cloudbakers’ Custom Application Development  team is thrilled with the enhancements to Google Cloud as well. Our expertise fits right in line with Google’s strategic direction and we couldn’t be more excited.

As always, Cloudbakers is a shoulder to lean on for questions, new strategy discussions, and even just a place to share your excitement. We feel as a Partner and friend, that with the time and effort put into this branding, Google is more focused than ever on the Enterprise and wants to show that to the rest of the world!
