“The only constant is change” —Heraclitus
“Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.” —John F. Kennedy
“All great changes are preceded by chaos.” —Deepak Chopra
Acknowledged or not, business leaders are forced to cope with change. Currently, COVID-19 is forcing an unprecedented rate of change. The result? The largest transition to a remote workforce the world has seen.
Maintaining business continuity, as we transition to working from home, has been subjected to a “trial by fire” as businesses of all industries are forced to adjust. As COVID-19 continues to keep us indoors, what has come to center stage is the need for cloud. According to Gartner’s Craig Lowery, Vice President Analyst, “In general, the move that we’ve made as an industry toward more cloud-based services with an emphasis on scalability, reliability, distribution across zones and regions – that value proposition is really shining.”
Cloud companies like Google, Amazon, and Zoho have come together in an effort to provide solutions that will keep businesses moving forward despite where we are today.
With a more focused look at Google Cloud:
- $20 million commitment to support COVID-19 related research
- Since January, Google’s video-conferencing platform, Google Meet, has experienced a 25x increase in usage. Google has since made Meet free for everyone through September 30th, 2020.
- For nonprofit Khan Academy, Google Cloud infrastructure is helping Khan handle a surge in time spent on site (up 2.5X) as well as new registrations from students and teachers (up 6X) and from parents (up 20X).
“We’re all in the midst of an extraordinary moment—not only for our teams, colleagues, and customers but for the world at large,” writes Google Cloud CEO, Thomas Kurian, in a blog post outlining the company’s efforts.
Cloudbakers is aligned with Google in every way. Enabling remote workforces and addressing challenges associated with the current climate is where we excel.
