As many of you may know, from either following us on twitter or joining our circle on G+, Cloudbakers took a trip to Boston last week to take part in one of the most influential conferences ever! #INBOUND13 became a trend on twitter with over 5,300 guests sharing their experiences throughout the event. With over 100 speakers including Seth Godin and Arianna Huffington, there was a TON of fantastic take-away messages that brought a whole new kind of motivation into my life. Take a look below at my top three favorites.
Treat people like humans and share stories. Going slightly along the lines of the Golden Rule, ‘treat others the way you want to be treated’-like a human. As great as it is to always know the facts, I will never be the one to turn down a real life story of how something works. Making decisions based off the experience that someone else had, will always make me more confident when I take that action.
“Live your life as if everything is rigged in your favor." Arianna Huffington advised us that ‘life only makes sense looking back’. Take opportunities by the reins and more often than not, you’d be surprised where you end up. Getting to the places you want requires you to take chances that might not seem like the way to go at the time, but soon you realize why you took them. Don’t look back and wish you would have done something different.
Make goals for yourself. No matter what aspect of your life you make those goals for, make sure they’re realistic and find a way to measure your work. They will keep you focused and help you determine what you’re doing well and what you still need to work on. As Seth Godin stated, “there are no shortcuts”!
I was absolutely amazed by the amount of knowledge that filled the Hynes Convention Center that week. Fairly certain that I would learn a lot about the tools I work with everyday in the office, I was surprised at how much I could apply to my entire life.
During the conference, we also learned about charity: water and their mission to bring clean water to everyone in the world. Cloudbakers is joining the cause to make that dream possible for over 800 million people. See how you can help.Originally published on August 29, 2013
