Cloudbakers 2019: A Year In Review

A lot happens on any given day at Cloudbakers. After an entire year, it’s amazing to look back and see just what exactly we were up to. Here’s a quick look back on some of our biggest achievements of 2019:

Google Cloud Specializations

We kicked off the holiday season last year with our first Google Cloud Specialization in Application Development. Throughout the 2019, individual ‘Bakers continued to pass Google Cloud certifications as the entire company worked toward achieving Google Cloud Specializations in Data Analytics and Enterprise Work Transformation. Because these Specializations align so well with our practice areas at Cloudbakers, we’re not stopping there– the Google Cloud Infrastructure Specialization is in our future.

On The Road

We traveled across the country from L.A. to Indianapolis (twice), Houston, Salt Lake City, and back to our headquarters of Chicago to share Google Cloud strategies with over 130 organizations. These roadshows covered everything from security in the cloud to work transformation, smart analytics, and hybrid cloud. Some events focused more on Google Drive, and others inspired us on how to tackle the 4th industrial revolution. Thank you to all of our attendees and speakers in 2019 and stay tuned for our 2020 tour as we continue to meet amazing companies face-to-face.

Many Friends in Great Places

Aside from our Roadshow events, you could find ‘Bakers in the most popular places in 2019. We sent 19 employees to Google Cloud’s biggest annual event, Next ‘19 where we hosted a special Happy Hour for our clients and partners. We followed that event with the Chicago Google Cloud Summit, which brings the learnings from Google Cloud Next to a regional level. We became the life of the party in Denver, the home of Cloudbakers HQ2, when we returned to C-Level @ A Mile High (which we will be back at again next year, so come say hi to us in Denver!) You may also have spotted us at BetterCloud’s Altitude Conference, HIMSS19, NexGen by the Channel Company, Women in Tech Summits and even digitally via Cloud OnAir or Google’s Global Digital Conference.

Podcast Fame

Earlier this year we got a plug from Techmeme Ride Home and Mitch Greenwald, Founder & CEO of Cloudbakers was interviewed in a collaboration with Technori podcast. In the words of Scott Kitun, it was “the best explanation for cloud business” he’s ever heard.

Rebrand

64 Google Docs, 32 calls via Google Meet, and 16 repainted walls were just some of the ingredients that went into Cloudbakers new look and messaging this year. ‘Bringing the cloud down to earth’ became our new tagline and we will continue to help our clients in doing just that across all of Google Cloud and Zoho. Take a look at what this rebrand entailed.

Award-Winning Efforts

This year brought an Inc. 5000 milestone for us as we hit our 5th year on the list. We were recertified as a Great Place to Work, and made it into the Top 10 on Fortune’s Inner City 100 List. Our team almost doubled in size again and our CTO, Eric Lannert, achieved ‘Geek Emeritus’ from i.c.stars at their 20th Anniversary IT Prom. One of our strategic goals this year was to keep our culture thriving as we grow. Our focus on this led us to these accomplishments as well as hundreds of successful projects with our clients.

Thank you

2020 isn’t just any year for us– it will mark our 10th year in this business. We couldn’t have done this alone. Over those ten years we’ve had support from clients, partners, friends, and family. Thank you, sincerely, from our cloud “kitchen” to yours.

While we head into the holiday season excited and proud of what Cloudbakers has accomplished we also move forward with humility and passion. We want to continue to keep current and future clients happy while striving for continued innovation and authenticity. Last but not least, since this is the season of giving we’re reminded that we always try to give back to the community, so we’ll be looking forward to new opportunities to give back in the new year.

Cheers to what was a fantastic 2019 and what will be an even better 2020!
